Are you dreaming of a white…………. sandy beach?

Dreams do come true – Announcing The WMF Winter White Sale!!!  Read on……

Here we are, half-way through December, and many of us are already experiencing the “Frosty Forecast” that Old Farmer’s Almanac predicted for Winter 2013/2014.  Meteorologists report below-normal temperatures and above-normal snowfall during most of the winter across much of the USA and Canada. While there is beauty in the whiteness of snow, it seems many of us are dreaming of a white sandy beach.  “When winter hits hard, people start planning their escape South, and as a result, hotels are filling up much quicker this year on Isla Mujeres,” says Meaghan St. Louis of Isla Beckons www.islabeckons.com  With this information in mind, those of you who have registered for We Move Forward will want to reserve accommodation sooner than later.

And, if you’ve been dreaming about participating in this “crazy amazing experience” we encourage you to take advantage of the ‘WMF Winter White Sale’ and shift your dream into reality!  Register for WMF now and save $60 – you will pay only $495 for  “the most meaningful and memorable travel experience, ever.”  Make your plans now, not later when there are fewer hotels to choose from.  That’s the paradox of Isla – it has all the charms of a small, quaint and safe Caribbean community, partly because of the limited number and size of hotels – and for this reason you need to reserve your place in paradise well in advance. Here’s where you’ll find all the information you need to book your trip to Isla Mujeres for We Move Forward: www.wemoveforward.com/location

SLIDE ON OVER TO THE DRIVER’S SEAT

Mary MacSporran, the mother of Janeen Halliwell, the Founder of WMF, has supported We Move Forward since the day the idea was born.  Mary works tirelessly to make WMF happen, giving both moral support and on-the-ground attention to attendees.  Janeen took the time to write a quick story about her amazing mom, one which explains why “Slide on over to the driver’s seat” is a tagline for We Move Forward.

Slide over to the driver’s seat.  That’s what Mary did. It’s not that she hadn’t enjoyed being in the passenger seat while Scotty, her husband, drove.  She was quite comfortable letting him steer while she read street signs, searched for landmarks, or enjoyed the scenery. If Mary had had her way, she would still be the passenger, and Scotty the driver. But sadly that is not how things turned out.

Scotty died of pancreatic cancer in July 2010. Moving on after losing the love of your life, your husband of 55 years, involves taking one breath at a time, to one footstep, to one day at a time. Mary will tell you so.

The idea of ‘We Move Forward’ came eight months after Scotty died. My mom embraced the vision and worked alongside me to prepare for the inaugural WMF 2012. Her support and efforts were instrumental in making WMF happen, and happen it did! WMF did indeed achieve its mission: To create an event and environment where women of all ages and backgrounds form community, and share amazing experiences that re-energize all that makes them whole – their bodies, minds and souls – moving them in one direction, forward.

Sometime after WMF 2012, I asked my mom if We Move Forward had had a lasting impact on her. She told me, “After the conference, I got behind the wheel of your father’s car and for the first time since his death, I drove with confidence, knowing that I could get to where I was going on my own now.”

This is a picture of my mom, Mary, in the driver’s seat of her new car, hands on the wheel, moving forward in a direction that serves her. Under the passenger’s seat are Scotty’s sunglasses.

I miss you dad.

Drive on mom.
